Well I
am not into blogging about health tips but below are health tips my network provider
shares with me each day. I have decided to compile these tips and share with
you my blog readers.
HYPERTENSION
Do you
know hypertension is the number one killer in Ghana? Reduce stress caffeine
consumption, alcohol intake and exercise regularly to maintain low blood
pressure.
SORE THROAT
Sore
throat is caused by viruses’ bacteria or candida leading throat pain, cough
sneezing and fever. It can be treated with saltwater gargle, lozenges and humidifier.
Do you
know Sore throat that last more than two weeks could be a sign of throat
cancer. Oral sex, smoking, tobacco use alcohol are major causes of throat
cancer.
CANCER
World
Health Organization’s panel of cancer expert have confirmed breathing in diesel
exhaust fumes for long period cause lung cancer and tumour in bladder.
Do you
know diabetes is on the rise in Ghana damaging kidney, eyes and feet of
patient. Maintaina good weight through exercising, good diet, reduce in sugar intake.Do you know some type of HPV cause cervical cancer, penis, and vagina cancer? HPV infections could go undetected for years. Always practice safe sex.
INFERTILITY
Do you
know many cases of infertility are as result of sexually transmitted
infections? Seeking early treatment for penile and vaginal discharges is always
recommended.
Gonorrhoea
spreads with mouth, vagina, penis or anus and could spread to testes and
fallopian tube. Both partners should get treatment to avoid re-infection.
CONTROL BLOOD PRESSURE
Do you
know watermelon is rich in potassium, which helps control blood pressure, help
prevent stroke, regulate heart beat and reduces risk of kidney stone.
Watermelon
contain lycopene which research have shown is good in reducing risk of
prostate, breast, lung and colon cancer. It can taken as desert or snack.
VIRAL DISEASE
Dengue
fever is a viral disease spread by Aedes, mosquitoes which bite at dawn and
dusk. It has no cure. High fever and rashes are symptoms. AvoidAedes mosquito
bite.
Don’t
skip breakfast, as it aids in weight management, prevents morning platelet
activation and loe blood sugar that is associated with heart attack and stroke.
PREVENTION OF DIARRHOEA
Do you
know administering ORS and Zinc to infants for THREE days stops diarrhea?
Extending zinc supplement to TEN protect the infant from diarrhoea for THREE months .
SAFE SEX
Genital
wart is soft growth on the skin and the genitals. It is caused by Human Papilloma
Virus(HPV) which is sexually transmitted
. Always practice safe sex.
STROKE
Stroke
is an emergency and knowing its signs are important which include sudden
weakness, speech and vision problems, dizziness and trouble walking with severe
headache.
