Unveiling the Ascend Y210, Mr. Michael Ikpoki, CEO of MTN said, “MTN considers it our responsibility to ensure we explore innovative technological solutions that enable Ghanaians to boldly enter the digital world with solutions that meet their communications needs.” He further stated that as the leading mobile data provider in Ghana, MTN provides data services with huge benefits in terms of affordable internet rates and user experience to subscribers.
Mr. Ikpoki noted that MTN, in its efforts to move Ghana further into the digital age, has recognised that one main hindrance to people’s acquisition and usage of smartphone devices is price. This has created a smartphone adoption gap which needs to be filled with a “low priced” handset that offers authentic smart phone experience. It is in recognition of this that MTN is partnering Huawei to provide the Ascend Y210 handset.
The Ascend Y210 runs on the Android Operating System and comes with exciting features. It is one of the devices on MTN’s “Money Back” service, which gives back to customers the full price of the device in the form of voice and data services over a 12-month period. During that period, customers are required to recharge a minimum of GHC 1 worth of airtime in order to benefit from the offer.
Ascend Y210 costs GHC 169 and
Comes with 65 minutes of voice calls and 200MB of data each month for 12 months. This offer is available for customers who purchase the handset both in and outside MTN service outlets.
