As part of Tigo's efforts to rekindle the old inter community football rivalry and stay close to their subscribers, Tigo network has introduces yet another exciting edition of the hugely successful Tigo Community Soccer.Tigo Community Football is a football festival, played among competing neighborhood teams in identified communities across the country.This year’s edition is scheduled to took off on the 10th of November, 2012 at the Bukom Park. Under this years’ edition, the country has been split into 5 territories.
Namely;
- Accra
- Eastern territory
- Western territory
- Ashanti territory
- Northern
Community soccer will visit Dansoman, Madina and Tema in Accra, Ho, Koforidua in the eastern territory, Sekondi, Takoradi, Tarkwa and Cape Coast in the western territory, Kumasi, Konongo, Obuasi, Mampong, Techiman, Sunyani in the Ashanti territory.
Each location will see a round of sixteen knockout matches from which winners will progress to the finals.
The Community football fiesta covers a period of two-days at each stop and it is typically phased into group, elimination and final stages.
There will be interesting side shows to the main event including Azonto competition, women’s penalty shoot-outs and ‘Jogo bonitos’ or ball juggling –known in local football parlance as ‘totals’.
At each centre, 16 teams will be allowed to compete for the top honors.
Each team will be made up of 15 players
Communities which are interested in participating must;
- Ensure each member has a newly registered Tigo SIM card with Ghc2 airtime (existing Tigo subscribers do not need to buy new SIM cards). New SIM cards should be bought from the CSC of registration.
- Visit the nearest Tigo offices in their various regions and with the phone numbers of the team members to register.
